He Planted The Ear

Psalm · 94:5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 14-15

They crush your people, O Lord, and afflict your heritage. They kill the widow and the stranger, they murder the orphan, and they say, "The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive." Understand, O dullest of the people; fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?

The psalm opens on something brutal. They crush your people, it says. They kill the widow and the stranger, they murder the orphan. And then it gives you the line the killers tell themselves:

Today's intention

Today, when something feels unseen or unanswered, I'll hold onto the truth that the One who formed the eye sees everything, and the One who planted the ear hears every cry.
